Settings guide

Here you will find the various Voicey configuration parameters, along with information to help you understand what they are for and how to use them best on your Discord server.

SettingDescription
๐Ÿ”Š Voice channel creation channelVoicey's entry point is a creation voice channel. When a member joins it, the bot automatically creates a temporary voice channel.
๐Ÿ“ Voice channel creation categoryThe category is where temporary voice channels are created. It is used to organize voice channels and can allow you to apply specific permissions to them.
๐Ÿงพ Log channelThis is the text channel where voice channel bans, recording results, and any bot configuration errors on your Discord server are reported. Without this channel defined, recordings cannot work.
๐Ÿ” Moderation roles

By default, Voicey considers any user with the Administrator permission to be a moderator.

However, it is possible to define specific roles for voice channel management. Moderators can:

  • use the commands /recordban and /banhistory
  • access the moderation dashboard, view recordings and activity logs
  • manage temporary voice channels โ€” they have the same rights as channel owners and are immune: a channel owner cannot ban or kick a moderator from their channel.

Moderation roles allow dashboard access, however, to modify Voicey's settings on your server, the Administrator permission is required.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Slot limitIt is possible to change the limit of each temporary voice channel created on the Discord server by Voicey. It is 7 by default.
โฑ๏ธ Recording durationEach server defines the duration of a recording triggered with Voicey. By default, it is 1 minute. It must be a minimum of 10 seconds and a maximum of 3 minutes.
